Actions to Stop the Bombing

Question:

Desert Fox – Virtual Reality Aggression It is significant that this latest operation over Iraq, designated DESERT FOX, is named after a Nazi General, Erwin  Rommel(The Desert Fox). The brutal subjugation of the Arab people by the nazi  regime in Africa and the Arab Peninsula during the   World War II is a matter of fact and well documented . Nothing in modern memory has been so despised as the Facist Governments in Italy, Japan and Germany during WWII and to name an attack on the people of Iraq after one of these nazi butchers is an affront and insult to all civilized Human Beings. At this very moment in an effort to impose its Will and establish its Influence,  Power, and Leadership  in the region, the United States and its allies are now  using Military Force  to manifest their goals in the world. Intervention in Somalia, Rwanda, Grenada, Panama, Haiti, Iraq, Iran, etc. and any other point on the map, shows the true face and intentions of the United States and its muderous allies. Today, bombs are now dropping on the people of Iraq. Who’s next? The European Union is steadfast in its support of the DESERT FOX Attack. The lines are being drawn and they are very clear to see. The Congress of the United States is behind this attack. Bill Clinton, the so-called anti-war candidate and Liberal, is at the titular  head of it all. If there was any doubt about where Clinton or the United States Government is coming from, then this should be the Litmus test. The people of Iraq are now being murdered  and why? Saddam Hussein is one of  Western Imperialist creations. A problem they engineered. They sold him all of the material he needs to even make weapons of Mass Destruction. He could not even begin to produce these weapons without there help. They continue to sell arms to the highest bidder. Hypocrisy on a grand scale when even they possess these hated weapons of Mass Destruction. Do they Bomb the White House or  10 Downing Street? What about Paris or Moscow? They should then throw in New Delhi, Islamabad, and Peking to boot and if these smart bombs were really smart they would turn back on their masters and blow them all away.. CNN is broadcasting a starlight-scope, computer-enhanced image of the massacre and carnage live, exclusively to the World. Who signed their contract? You’d have to be a damn fool to believe all of this hype. That’s just the point.  Many people will come out of this with no more illusions about the future. The US Government and its puppet-leaders  present a pathetic picture to the world. They are ruthless, calculating and without conscience. It is the duty and responsibilty of all fair-minded and principled people of this world to undertake what is necessary to rid us all of a cancer, which if allowed to grow, will certainly destroy the entire world. Dear Network Participants and Supporters, Our sisters and brothers in Iraq are once more on the receiving end of the U.S.’s weapons of mass destruction. A movement to stop the bombing and the sanctions exists. Now it’s time to step up the struggle. There’s nothing wrong with protesting the war simply because it’s the right thing to do, but let’s set our sights on actually stopping the destruction. Let’s make sure that our actions are more than symbolic. Let’s do EVERYTHING we can to reach the hearts of more people and promote a spirit of "No business as usual." We all know that what’s happening to the Iraqi people is genocide, nothing less. What else can you call the bombing of a people who are already sick, starving and dying in a country without an infrastructure? Our actions must reflect the graveness and the urgency of this reality. What follows is an extensive list of actions, most of which were planned when the U.S. first began it’s latest threats against Iraq about a month ago. We assume that most of them still stand, but call first if you’re in doubt. We included some actions that occured on the day of the bombing so people can use the contact info to find out about future actions. Please send more updates! We would also like reports of how your actions went so we can share ideas and get a better sense of the public’s response to the bombing and to our protests. We can’t expect the mainstream media’s polls to be accurate! As for Seattle, we had a protest at the Federal Bldg during rush hour on the evening of the bombing. There were about 75 people. We held signs, chanted, and spoke out on a PA system. At least 2 media people showed up from 2 different local news stations. Following the rally, about 20 people marched in the streets to the Westlake Center, a busy shopping area, where we met up with a few young artists. Their faces were painted and they held a HUGE banner with the words, "No War." When we split up, they were on their way to hang the banner over a freeway overpass. We’ll protest again tomorrow (Thurs) and go from there. Also, the Anti-Intervention Network just published it’s first issue of a newsletter called "Upping the Anti" If you’d like a copy, send us your mailing address (especially those network members who we only have e-mail for!). It’s a great outreach tool to distribute at protests and to your friends.
