SF: Friend of anarchism sought in SF area

Question:

15,000, CNT 5,000, others 5,000) Italy (USI 5,000) France (CNT-F 2,000) There are many other organisations with memberships in the hundreds in most countries world-wide. All of these organisations are explicitly anarchist, revolutionary and anti-capitalist. When we come to looking at North America however we find a curious thing.  Since the mass expulsion and criminalisation of anarchists in the period during and after the first world war there has been no major anarchist movements in Canada or the US.

This may be changing.  The  August issue of Industrial Worker (iww) reports a 71% increase in membership since January of 95.  Of course that probably means they now have something like 127 members as opposed to only 83 two years ago. mario – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

If I remember correctly, there are about 600 paid-up members, with many times more that haven’t paid their dues (not paying dues just means you can’t vote or hold any positions within the union).  I’ve tried to get people to make estimates, and I’ve tried to make my own, but the best I can say is that there are maybe 500-5000 who haven’t been paying dues, but its hard to say how many of those still consider themselves a wob. Response:

Hello: I’m new to SF and I am looking for groups and friends for support, growth, activism, and developing new visions along anarchist, anti-capitalist ideas.  I am especially interested in developing a practical anarchist philosophy and psychology – universal autonomy and respect – which can act as a common perspective for action, vision, understanding the world, and overcoming the prejudice, distrust, and competition among various groups and identities.  I am also interested in media analysis and alternative media: Z, FAIR, MOJO, Nation, Chomsky
