Is is taken for granted that the UK will participate whenever so requested by the US? Is this reciprocal? I would imagine not; in the unlikely situation of the UK going to war, I think the US would evaluate the situation in terms of its own interests. Do you reckon Ronny Ray-Gunn would have lent her some manpower if it had escalated to a British invasion of the Argentine mainland? I doubt, even with the "special relationship".
