Is is taken for granted that the UK will participate whenever so requested by the US? Is this reciprocal? I would imagine not; in the unlikely situation of the UK going to war, I think the US would evaluate the situation in terms of its own interests. Rupa Umm…Thatch had to rely on General Pinochet and Chile to get any help with the Falklands if I remember. Do you reckon Ronny Ray-Gunn would have lent her some manpower if it had escalated to a British invasion of the Argentine mainland? I doubt, even with the "special relationship".
