Linda Thompson v. Secret Police State
Question:
History teaches us about the present, as well as the past. Persecution of US dissidents has been going on for decades. Read about what they did to Martin Luther King in ORDERS TO KILL by Wm. F. Pepper (Carroll & Graf, New York, 1995). The secret police state used infiltration and surveillance and many other classic techniques to destroy Dr. King. No, Linda Thompson is NOT Martin Luther King. No, Martin Luther King was not Linda Thompson. But the secret police state IS still the secret police state, and it IS still doing its dirty work. Yes, the federal government, just like any other institution composed of human beings, is capable of mendacity. But taking that premise, and making the grand leap Ms. Thompson does, defies all logic. You, my friend, need to study a little more history, and I don’t mean that pablum dished out on TV or in the public schools (where one is taught only what is in the best interests of the government for you to know). Back in the 60s, when Americans were beginning to resent seeing their loved ones coming home in body bags (or as drug addicts), the FBI, seeing that the will of the people was beginning to drift in a direction contrary to that of the rulership, took steps. Starting with the premise that freedom is okay only so long as it’s the freedom to follow the leadership, the FBI embarked on a secret program called COINTELPRO. The program covered hundreds of individual operations which had nothing to do with crime prevention. Indeed, many of the operations were crimes themselves. COINTELPRO existed solely to harass, threaten, and undermine any group or individual who spoke out against the government. By definition, those violated the Constitutional rights of the targets. Nixon, like Clinton, had taken an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution only to turn around and ignore it’s most basic provisions. Some of the minor COINTELPRO operations involved constant sabotage against anti-war and civil rights groups, sometimes direct, such as break-ins to offices to destroy equipment, and sometimes indirect, such as the famous "Black Panther Coloring Book". The Black Panthers had emerged as a potent political force in the civil rights movement, standing up to the often inappropriate and gratuitous force used against blacks by southern white policemen. Like Martin Luther King, the Black Panthers were successfully drawing attention to the black’s legitimate political grievances. Like Martin Luther King, the Black Panthers became a target of the FBI’s COINTELPRO program. But before outright sabotage could take place with impunity against the Panthers, public sympathy had to be destroyed. People had to stop looking at the Panthers before things best not seen were done to them. So the FBI, at taxpayer expense, printed up a coloring book and mailed it to households across america. That it arrived at our home, a white household, should have tipped us off that something was wrong, but we were as naive as the rest of America when it came to the lies of the government. The media proclaimed that this coloring book was the work of the black panthers and We The People believed the the media and the government. In hindsight, we were idiots to have done so. This coloring book, scans of which are at my website, was filled with highly racist and hateful pictures of black people being abused by and then in turn killing white police officers, portrayed as pigs. The images so angered the white population that the Black Panther’s legitimate political activism was destroyed. Nobody would listen anymore, and along with the assasination of Martin Luther King, the civil rights movement was effectively derailed. Yet another FBI COINTELPRO operation involved the use of the Disneyland theme park in Anahiem, California. Disney and the FBI had a long time association going back to when Walt Disney had quite naively asked J. Edgar Hoover to help locate Walt and Roy’s real birth parents. In exchange, Hoover asked Walt to "keep an eye" on some of the other folks in Hollywood. This "keeping an eye" eventually escalated to point where Walt Disney used the House Committee on Un-American Activities (McArthy) to take revenge against Woody Woodpecker creator Walter Lantz, who had years before stolen Oswald the Rabbit from Disney when their early partnership dissolved. Even though Lantz hadn’t actually been a part of any communist activity, his exposure before the McArthy committee and in the press hurt his organization. Mickey’s pedigree has just a touch of rat in it. From that day forward, Walt Disney, and the Disney organization were in Hoover’s pocket, along with most of the rest of Hollywood (Hoover personally supervised the filming of the Jimmy Stewert film, ""The FBI Story"). By threatening to expose the Walter Lantz episode to the rest of Hollywood, the FBI was able to convince the Disney management to allow the FBI to use the Anahiem park for a huge publicity stunt. The FBI had undercover informants operating at college campuses across America (a practice that continues to the present moment). Those informants present on the Southern California campuses, having infiltrated the anti-war movement, started to organize a peace march to be staged on Harbor Boulevard at the entrance to the parking lot to Disneyland. Buses were organized, permits obtained and the march was on. Once at Harbor boulevard, the protest organizers (the undercover FBI informants) started agitating the college students, insisting that the people driving into Disneyland were just not payting any attention. Followed by the students, the undercover informants leapt the turnstyles and headed into the park, wreaking havoc. The press and the National Guard were already on station to respond. By next morning, the media was showing photographs of FBI-informants-posing-as-anti-war-protestors beating up Mickey Mouse, and a staged shot of the National Guard, M16s at the ready, along Mainstreet U.S.A. In a single stroke, the public sympathy for the anti-war movement was ruined. The anti-war protestors, based on the actions of the undercover FBI operatives, were viewed as little better than thugs. With the anti-war movement crippled, NIxon was able to pursue the unwinnable war. The results can be seen on a black wall in the Capital. These operations, and others just like them, were recealed in a series of congressional hearings in the 70s, triggered when the COINTELPRO files were leaked to the press. The FBI’s wrists were slapped (far too late to those who died in Vietnam after the Disneyland op) and Congress passed laws to protect the American people from such abuses ever again. However. Upon being appointed to the head of the FBI (on the same day that Vincent Foster was murdered), Louis Freeh asked Congress to rescind those laws which banned COINTELPRO. In the light of recent events, it’s clear that he had reason to. The FBI is now in Federal court twice for evidence tamparing and witness harassment. The entire FBI lab has been scandalized by the revelations that lab results were routinely biased in favor of the prosecution’s case. So badly has the lab’s credability been ruined that the prosecution in the Timothy McVeigh case has had to drop the lab’s results from their evidence list. Many other Federal cases may well have to do likewise. The FBI’s handling of the silver/black gun in the Vincent Foster affair was recently reported in the mainstream press, which is now running political cartoons denigrating the FBI’s performance in the TWA 800 affair. The New York Times reported that the World Trade Towers bombing was a botched FBI sting, wherein the FBI could have prevented it but chose NOT to! The recent rise in "militia" arrests always seem to involve undercover FBI operatives as instigators. Indeed, a joke making the rounds these days is that it’s easy to spot the undercover FBI informant; he’s the one with the explosives! (The internet variant is that the undercover FBI informant is the one handing out free child-porn). I don’t agree with everything that Linda Thompson says. But it’s not wild eyed fantasy to say that such secret police tactics are being used against the people and in violation of the Constitution. That such tactics commonly take place is a matter of both historic and court record. — RANCHO RUNNAMUKKA | Special Effects / Documentary Films Mike & Claire – The Rancho Runnamukka http://www.accessone.com/~rivero/ The Website is in a major overhaul. Yes, the federal government, just like any other institution composed of human beings, is capable of mendacity. But taking that premise, and making the grand leap Ms. Thompson does, defies all logic. She’s been prattling on about ‘black helicopters’ and ‘New World Orders’ for some time. She’s strictly lunatic fringe. Dr. King was not lunatic fringe. I’m not for a moment condoning what Hoover did to King. But let’s get real here … King was a real threat to the appalling status quo. Ms. Thompson, despite whatever visions of granduer she may harbor, simply is not. This ‘New World Order’, Trilateral Commission, "One World’ conspiracy crap has been around longer than the Internet (It first emerged back in 1945 after Wendell WIlke’s book.). And interestingly enough .. we’re still a sovereign nation after all these years! This nation has always had its share of xenophobic paranoids, of which Ms. Thompson is merely the latest exemplar. I’m sure she truly believes she is the target of a grand nefarious federal conspiracy. But let’s face reality. Assuming the Feds could mount such a consipracy (which, of course, they can’t — witness Watergate), she simply ain’t worth the effort! Rodney Proctor

Linda Thompson’s suit against US Customs Service documents current practices. Her suit was recently reported in the Indianapolis Star, and reposted with comments from Linda on AEN News. Here it is. *** To all the other media: YOU MISSED BEING FIRST! The Indianapolis Star has broken the biggest story of this year — the proof that the U.S. Government has knowingly sponsored and been engaged in a completely illegal and unconstitutional and PURPOSEFUL AGENDA to spread lies and disinformation in the media and on computer networks worldwide about people, falsely claiming they are "terrorists, racists, and nazis" and one government agent has confessed! The story gets bigger as proof that military and other agencies are involved. Stay tuned. My comments appear in brackets [ ]. The rest of the article is quoted verbatim from the Indianapolis Star — Linda Thompson. Indianapolis Star Page A-12 Saturday, March 22, 1997 Bureaucrat Sponsored Defamation by James Patterson Allen Taylor of Indianapolis is employed as a communications technician with the U.S. Customs Office of Information and Technology Services. He and his supervisors at the U.S. Customs are charged in an $8 million civil lawsuit with terrorizing an Indianapolis attorney, her family and six other adults who were her acquaintances [sic -- there are plaintiffs in the suit who were not acquaintances -- LT]. The suit alleges Taylor as a government agent used his computer bulletin board service, called "Computer virus Resource Center," and the Internet [sic - it was Fidonet - LT] to harass, intimidate, emotionally distress, libel, slander and destroy the reputations of attorney Linda Thompson, her husband Al, their political organization, The American Justice Federation [sic - American Justice Federation is a publishing company and legal services organization -- LT], and its news service, Associated Electronic Network (AEN). [And to destroy computer networks in Fidonet]. [THE SUIT ALSO ALLEGES TAYLOR AND 20 OTHER PERSONS, USED HELICOPTER AND VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE AND INCLUDES MORE THAN 30 PHOTOGRAPHS OF THIS ILLEGAL SURVEILLANCE AND HARASSMENT OVER THE PLAINTIFFS' HOMES, THE CHILDRENS' SCHOOLS, AND OFFICES OF THE PLAINTIFFS, and that TAYLOR UNLAWFULLY ACCESSED COMPUTER RECORDS WITHOUT A WARRANT, ACCESSED IRS RECORDS AND USED THE IRS TO HARASS THE PLAINTIFFS, VOLUNTEERED AND CREATED NEWSPAPER ARTICLES TO PUBLICLY CIRCULATE FALSE INFORMATION, CIRCULATED PETITIONS AND VIDEOTAPES, ALL MAKING FALSE CLAIMS FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE OF CREATING FALSE PUBLIC IMPRESSIONS ABOUT THE PLAINTIFFS, SPECIFICALLY, AND PATRIOTS, CHRISTIANS, AND MILITIA, GENERALLY AND THAT THIS WAS A ** GOVERNMENT APPROVED ** AND SPONSORED, ILLEGAL AND PROHIBITED AGENDA -- LT]. Linda Thompson is well known for her interpretation of the Constitution as it relates to her advocacy of the "Patriot" movement, citizen militias and the like. She has been arrested at least twice in Indianapolis [Actually, three times and I won all three -- LT], once at a bus stop rally where touring Democrats were touting President Clinton’s ill-fated national health care plan, [I blocked the healthcare bus, won the case and the judge declared the blocking to have been "Constitutionally protected speech." -- LT], and another time by an intake clerk at the Indianapolis City-County Building who demanded to know if she had a gun [and handcuffed me and threw me into a wall, causing permanent partial blindness in my right eye, a laceration to my face, two black eyes, and bruising to my face and arm, and then LIED about it, and the Star reported the lies, repeatedly. The "intake clerk" was 6'5", 270 pounds. He was also a $5 a year "reserve deputy" and arrested me. THIS WAS DECLARED an "ILLEGAL ARREST" and "ILLEGAL SEISURE" by the Court. I won that case, too. -- LT] All charges were thrown out. Court documents allege that beginning in November ‘94, "Taylor wrote hundreds of messages, denouncing the Plaintiffs for (what Taylor falsely claimed were — LT) the ‘racist Anti-American, Anti-Constitutional, Anti-Family, Anti-Government, Anti-Christian, Anti-Semitic neo-Nazi militia views. "The sheer volume, intensity, and ferocity of Taylor’s postings themselves, indicated that Taylor was obsessed and spent a majority of his time doing nothing but writing denouncements, particularly of Linda Thompson." SPECIAL FORCES. Taylor’s resume and other messages were also posted under his log indicating that he was formerly in "special forces" with "combat experience." In February ‘95, the Thompsons filed a tort claim notice with the federal government citing Taylor’s alleged activities. Included were copies of 150 derogatory computer messages about them which Taylor had broadcast worldwide on various computer networks in the preceding December and January. COMPUTER COPIES. After a year, Customs Assistant Commissioner William F. Riley wrote the Thompsons: "the alleged activity is clearly outside the scope of Taylor’s employment" and was done during off-duty hours. But the plaintiffs submitted to the court scores of computer messages from Taylor indicating the documents were posted during his normal working hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. TAYLOR AGREES. The feds deny it. But Taylor sides with the plaintiffs on this point. In a Feb. 27, 1997, memorandum to Edward F. Kwas, assistant commissioner at Customs’ Office of Information and Technology, Taylor pleads: "You have in your possession information, including but not limited to, signed statements from workers that the U.S. Customs Service was aware of and encouraged my activities related directly or indirectly to the charges as described and contained in the aforementioned causes. "The Customs Service has initiated and received reports from Internal Affairs investigations wherein they allege that the incidents referenced in the above causes appear to have originated on government-owned computers. "I respectfully request that the scope of employment determination take these facts into consideration and require the U.S. Customs Service and U.S. Attorney’s Office to represent me in all matters and jurisdictions . . . " The government apparently wants Taylor to take the fall, but he is having none of it. How quickly bureaucrats forget that their power comes from the people, not vice versa. James Patterson, an editor with the Indianapolis Star, has been nominated for the AEN Breaking News Story of the Year award for this story. ***End of Linda Thompson post. Carol A.
