Atkins Lawsuit Begins could prevent mass funerals

Yet, the media has done virtually nothing to try to save Nutritional Supplements from the wrath of Illinois Senator Durbin’s Senate Bill 722. thought it was a stupid idea that would never happen. Yet, today (particularly on TODAY) came reports of a Floridian Jody Gorran has started what will hopefully be millions of lawsuits against ATKINS. Enough to end the worst diet since the early 1980’s FIT FOR LIFE that preached no fat, dairy, meat or anything but fruits and vegetables-ignoring any need for Protein. The reality is both ATKINS and Senate Bill 722 would create an American Health Crisis that is like what Randy Shilts wrote about in AND THE BAND PLAYED ON Chapter 2 titled THE BUTCHER’S BILL. The eventual tragedy of homosexuals partying in San Francisco’s 1980 Gay Lesbian Parade, unaware of the millions of deaths and eventual deaths that were about to transcend. So far Atkins and SB 722 are like the Gay Parades in SF. Media advertising this Low Carb, eat all the fat and cholesterol you want and lose weight with no perception that along with the Atkins line of products will soon come Atkins Cemeteries in every city for those who would have died. (Would have) has to be used because maybe with the lawsuit of Jody Gorran others will come forward and file lawsuits. And hopefully this Atkins party won’t end up in a mass tragedy. For those on THE ATKINS DIET will probably die if they stay on it too long. Sort of like how homosexuals in SF would die if they didn’t stop. In 1983 SF’s Department of Health Supervisor Mervin Silverman closed bathhouses for the public safety. Now two decades later, it’s time for the FDA to get Atkins stuff off the shelf before it’s too late. Before there are too many people too fat, with too much cholesterol for the American Health Care system to handle. Although I hope to be the "Randy Shilts against SB 722" Today (on TODAY) Jody Gorran just became the "Randy Shilts against The Atkins Diet." Last night’s "Joan of Arcadia" dealt with Joan preventing a potential Columbine. In the morning came Jody Gorran who quite possibly prevented a chain of Atkins cemeteries stealing the McDonald’s slogan "Millions served- to their deaths." And to all those who thought my idea of suing Atkins were never going to happen. There’s no need to apologize. For my activism is a labor of love (and money if it so happens, but it isn’t necessary.) And like Ali Mcgraw/Ryan O’Neill and Jamie Sale/David Pelletier "Love Means Never Having To Say, You’re Sorry."

Exactly what is your particular axe to grind? Atkins wrote his 1st book around 1970. He was a cardiologist. We have folks here on this diet for over 30 years with no ill effects. You have the right to do that, as long as you recognize that such lawsuits would be struck down as an attempt to suppress First Amendment rights and could be construed as frivolous or even harassing. You cannot successfully sue a person or group in the United States for disseminating an idea. Don’t get your hopes up. While I do get a bit of sadistic pleasure out of watching someone make a complete idiot of themselves in public, your hopes to call a halt to a way of life chosen and supported by millions is doomed to failure. Americans have a long history of self-determinism, and self-appointed righteousness based on few facts and more misinformation will not sway the masses. To put it simply, if you don’t like Atkins or the low-carb lifestyle, stay away from it and leave the rest of us the hell alone. "Eat all the fat and cholesterol you want" … you’ve never even done a cursory examination of the Atkins plan, have you? But at least our cemeteries will yield more graves per acre. You are representative of what I see as a disturbing trend in America… those who can’t effect legislation by support of the majority attempt to force it through by fiscal means, circumventing the laws of the land and wishes of the majority. It is my hope that America wakes up to this sort of self-serving tactic and eventually imposes penalties on those who waste the time and money of taxpayers through frivolous lawsuits. Again, you’re operating on few facts and more misinformation. Atkins did not make people fat. Adhering to the dietary guidelines of the USDA food pyramid, along with a sedentary lifestyle, certainly will. Why not examine these facts and channel your Don Quixote energies in that direction?
