What most Medical Doctors DON'T KNOW…
Question:
Gee Howard, why not start lobbying to get us to complain to the AMA about your opinions on doctor’s not knowing anything about nutrition. I am sure that , what was it, tens of thousands of people dieting each day from bad nutrition advise from uneducated incompetent doctor:) You badly need a lie Howard. My doctor has never steered me wrong about dieting. If he did, he wouldn’t be my doc anymore. — Disclaimer: YMMV and this is just MHO. They have one course in on nutrition in their education and call all BS!!!! All their education is in Drugs and Surgery!!!!! All they really know is how to drug you up and cut you open!!!!! Especially make you into a guinea pig so you could spend your last days, just holding on only to be miserable at how many pills you have to take to counteract each other for the long term (30-40 years) results they produce. Go to someone who studied concentrated Health and Nutrition for at least 6 years or more consistently!!! Not just a course or two here and there……

as a doctor-in-training, I find your little rant to be absolutely rediculous. for starters:
: Do not go to a medical doctor for help on nutrition!!!! err – why not? of all professions in the US, we are most broadly educated in the topic of health. This includes human metabolism, the role and physiology of exercise, the biochemistry of food use, role of hormones, etc.. ( I could probably blather on this list for another page) which no other health-care provider type possesses. Furthermore, we are trained to seek out experts (and thus the wonderful world of referrals) based upon clinical findings – so should one’s specialty prove inadequate to examine the scope of a nurtitional difficulty, s/he knows where to send you. : They have one course in on nutrition in their education and call : all BS!!!! nutrition is an aspect of probably over half of all medical courses. After all, it is integral to the study of many medical fields. : All their education is in Drugs and Surgery!!!!! that is surprising – as surgery isn’t even taught in the classroom, nor does it appear on the national boards, and pharmacology is only about 1/20th of our training. : All they really know is how to drug you up and cut you open!!!!! can you explain to me where you got this impression?? Is there some alternative medical curriculum being taught in the US of which I am unaware?? I imagine that medical school would certainly be a lot easier (and I’d actually KNOW, since I live it) were that the case. : Especially make you into a guinea pig so you could spend your last days, : just holding on only to be miserable at how many pills you have to take : to counteract each other for the long term (30-40 years) results they : produce. I have no idea what you are talking about. I think you’d best check your facts and not confuse them with what appears to be a currently frustrated mental state that leads you to irrationality. : Go to someone who studied concentrated Health and Nutrition for at least : 6 years or more consistently!!! Not just a course or two here and : there…… like whom????? Doctors are far from perfect. BUT we’re trained better than anyone – arguably anywhere in the world – at examining issues of human health – many of which have nutritional componants. To blanketly denounce all physicians as small-minded intellectual incompetants is both insulting and wholly incorrect. We sacrifice a great deal in terms of our youth, time, families, and money, to gain the necessary education and expertise to practice medicine in the US. After all, the physician is nothing more than a glorified public servant – a walking library of very limited knowledge, expected to be called upon to treat those whom "polite society" leaves aside: the elderly and the infirm, as well as to maintain the health of those around them. erica
