Online Approach Plates?

Question:

I’ve noticed that the online approach plates at both airnav.com and aeroplanner.com are now available only with a subscription.  Is there anywhere that U.S. approach plates are still available for free online? All the best, David —

Response:

Try this site, David. I think they might have what you’re looking for: http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/index.php

Well, it is not exactly free but if you are a member of AOPA then approach plates are available free to members on their website… there are lots of reasons besides this to join AOPA.

I use that one also; the user interface is first rate! I’ve kept my NOS subscription for my local area plates and Low Level charts covering 99.44% of my usual flights, and print out multiple myairplane charts for possible destinations when planning a flight outside northern California. -Greg – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I’ve noticed that the online approach plates at both airnav.com and aeroplanner.com are now available only with a subscription.  Is there anywhere that U.S. approach plates are still available for free online? Thanks — I vaguely remembered another site, but I didn’t have it bookmarked.  Now, if only all of the other countries (including mine) would imitate the U.S. and allow their approach plates to be redistributed freely … All the best, David —

Right — that’s exactly why I joined COPA, which does a great job lobbying up here.  I haven’t had the chance to fly in the U.S. yet, but if I end up doing a lot of business travel down there (I’m only 20 minutes’ flight north of the border), I might take advantage of the special AOPA partnership deal for COPA members. EchoFlight is no longer free.  Their web site now requires a paid subscription.  The changeover happened a few months ago. — Peter R. —-== Posted via Newsfeed.Com – Unlimited-Uncensored-Secure Usenet News==—- http://www.newsfeed.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 100,000 Newsgroups —= 19 East/West-Coast Specialized Servers – Total Privacy via Encryption =—
