Drug Policy Alliance

Question:

Just wanted to  share a thought.  I just became aware of an actual organization in Washington DC who is working to change drug policy in the USA.  It’s called the Drug Policy Project, at the Institute for Policy Studies.  If you visit the website, you’ll see that they are dedicated to ending the War on Drugs for all of the usual reasons… They are aware of the negative impact this "war" is having on our country,- * but*-  in a quick glance at their site, I’m surprised that they do not seem to be aware of the pain patients’ side of things However, they do not seem to be aware of the impact of it upon millions of pain patients.  Since they are a group of activists, perhaps it would be a good thing if we made them aware of our plight? Anyway, take a look and see what you think okay?    http://www.ips-dc.org/projects/drugpolicy.htm        Thanks,      codeee

Response:

Thank you, Codeee! This is a good start..even if they don’t know about, or choose not to support our side of things, they might know of another organization in DC that does, or will. I would bet they would love a different slant on their cause, though…it would look good to others for them to fight for legitimate patients who are harmed by the war that they are already fighting against..another bit of ammo for them, eh? I’ll look into it tomorrow, and start writing! Thanks again for passing this on.   Thank YOU Marcia!  I was pretty excited when I saw that one of the people on the site would be speaking here where I live, but since I can’t be there…at least I can let them know…AND –  if they get several letters along these lines…hey, well – nothing ventured, nothing gained! ….or at the very least, they’ll know it isn’t just one crackpot.. (it’s one crackpot with some friends.<G)  codeee (is that the sound of sabers rattling in the distance :-) (Trailingvine) wrote : – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Thank you, Codeee! Hi, There are actually a number of organizations lobbying to change the situation with the *war on drugs* and I know of a few that’s sole intent is to attempt to bring attention to the fact that it has become more of a  *war against pain patients*. Here are a couple of links that you may be interested in: Drug Reform Coordination Network http://www.druglibrary.org/ Dr. Deluca’s website has links to many articles regarding this issue http://www.doctordeluca.com/ You may also want to check out Skip Baker’s Organization ASAP (American Society for Action on Pain) http://www.widomaker.com/~skipb/skiphome.htm.html DRC has a list of similar organizations on their link page which can be accessed here: http://drcnet.org/links/ Hope that helps!  Great!  Thanks Karen, I’m not so sure that the other group I mentioned is interested in taking up our cause along with theirs….so this information is much appreciated!  codeee : – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Hi, There are actually a number of organizations lobbying to change the situation with the *war on drugs* and I know of a few that’s sole intent is to attempt to bring attention to the fact that it has become more of a  *war against pain patients*.
