USA Foreign Policy/Horrific Wrongs
Question:
Ever heard the fable about the foxes taking care of the henhouse? Not contented with the chicks in his own country we now have that wily old American fox wanting to control the hen house of Africa. It is nothing short of recolonization. It sounded so beautiful to me. Today in the Washington Post, President Clinton apologized to Africa for the horrific evils USA helped impose there in the past.

It sounded so beautiful to me. Today in the Washington Post, President Clinton apologized to Africa for the horrific evils USA helped impose there in the past. Here’s what he said: "In our own time, during the Cold War, when we were so concerned about being in competition with the Soviet Union, very often we dealt with countries in Africa and other parts of the world based more on how they stood in the struggle between the United States and the struggle for their own people’s aspirations to live up to the fullest of their God-given abilities." The Washington Post said a prominent example of this was 30-year support U.S.A. gave to the anti-Soviet regime in the the former Zaire, "where strongman Mobutu Sese Seko flagrantly enriched himself while brutally suppressing civil liberties and letting his nation fall into grinding poverty." The Post said, "Washington likewise supported repressive regimes in Liberia and other nations during the cold War, and supported anti-communist guerillas in a three-decade war against the government of Angola." An article in the Post last week was about the horrific evils of the dictator Pinochet in Chile that USA’s CIA helped install. As leader of the Chilean military, he overturned the popular democratically elected socialist, Allende, then asphixiated, electrocuted or tortured many thousands of socialists. Some were made to eat rats. Others were made to listen to the cries of their children. The government admits to 3,000 murders but human rights groups say that number may be much much higher. Our government has punished socialists across the globe as though they are evil. Yet, if you asked every person in the entire nation — even the ENTIRE world — if they would rather have a job working the counter at the Post Office or the counter at McDonald’s, each one would say the counter at the Post Office. The Post Office is socialism — a publicly owned business, while the MacDonald’s job is capitalism — privatization. But if you flip the question around and ask if they would rather their fellow countrymen have working conditions like those who work the counter at the Post Office or like those working the counter at McDonald’s, there are actually people who would rather they have working conditions like those working the counter at McDonalds. They praise these low paying jobs for being "efficient." Labor costs are low and someone can get fantastically wealthy. After all, if the money a person earns is used for pensions, health care and a good salary — what will be left for the stock market to subsidize the well-off? The arrogant believe they are infinately more deserving of much of their fellow countryman’s earnings. These greedy, uncaring, unthinking people, who walk in great darkness, are the ones behind the scenes controlling many of our congressmen and stirring up war across the world (though we do have congressmen with noble intentions.) A man from El Salvador said Ronald Reagan’s administration was giving one million dollars a day to support the war there. Does anyone know if this is true? When we take control of the nomination process of our congressmen and elect leaders that believe in letting each man and woman earn his or her own way instead of demanding that the poor subsidize the rich — then there will be peace on earth and healing in every area can begin. Probably now, these rich people are deciding which congressmen they will buy. Again, we will have the few dominating the many.
