- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I must agree with everything you said. Thinking of this is the only thing that really keeps me going. Here in the US we are all spoiled brats. No one knows or can even comprehend what problems are until you have been to N. Korea, or Mexico, or India. We are so lucky, yet we complain of such petty, unimportant things. When you dead it won’t matter if you were thin, and beautiful. When you eat too much or too little you are hurting yourself and you will one day die, leaving no time toleave an impact on peoples lives. Isn’t that why we are on this earth- to make a difference? Don’t get me wrong, I do worry about my looks, and I do watch my weight, and I am depressed but I don’t feel sorry for myself and I WON’T let society get me down because they want me to look beautiful. It is impossible for one to be perfect. I love you all. Thank God every day that you do have food because I know people in other countries who would kill for a bite to eat. Make a difference because you only have a precious amount of time on this earth. Love, T.F.H.
Thank you and all others who responded to the "start with yourself" post.. I’m so sad that some read my post and thought I was trying to "guilt trip" them – not the point. I do believe Americans are spoiled (IMHO), we have social services, acceptance and accomodations for handicapped individuals, marvelous grocery stores, schools, 0h the list is so long … and even though past generations have fought hard and worked hard to get us here we are still the benefactors of so much. We still have problems but, as a whole we are very fortunate. ( my earlier post seemed to imply that I’m a US citiizen by birth – oh well – I don’t understand why some people here have to know every detail of a person’s life – or why assumptions about others are made so quickly???) I wish for everyone that they would find peace with themselves and this world before too much times goes by… There is a lyric to a song that says "Some people live life like a game, one day they get tired and put the game away, Then one day they pull it out only to find that all the pieces are broken" Please don’t put your life on a shelf of self pity/ self destruction.. Please don’t waste days, weeks, months, and years on negativity. Eat to live Live to love Peace to you all…

Don’t know about you, but I am not spoiled nor a brat. Sounds like you have a problem with comparing problems, that could be a problem in itself. Having spent a ‘good’ deal of time in countries such as those you reference, the right to and meaning of life is much different. Human rights violations are more predominant, respect for private property and freedom are severly in check. We, Americans, have what we do, because we have worked, fought and died for it. Appreciate it. Been there, done that, Dana sends

I disagree. You say, "When you dead it won’t matter if you were thin, and beautiful," and then at the same time, "I do worry about my looks, and I do watch my weight, and I am depressed." Perhaps you should follow a bit of your own (very wise, I might add) advice, before coming here and telling people to "thank God every day that you do have food"…..
