Olympics

Question:

Hi! I was curious if any of you are as mad as I am about the 2008 Olympics being held in Beijing, China. The Olympics are the "Peace Games", and I am outraged that they are being held in the land of mass genocide toward the people of Tibet. I think it is sad what this world has come to, and even more sad that the US was neutral in their voting.

Response:

I’m honestly not mad about it, for a couple reasons. First, as I begin to learn Buddhism, I’ve started to let go of my anger. Secondly, as questionable as their human rights issues are, they do deserve to host it, as the Dalai Lama said himself. I think the US was neutral because it’s a hard decision to make. To vote against would cause more resentment between the two countries. To say yes, could possible allow more Western influence and goodwill towards China. I would honestly vote for them. China , I believe is probably the last of the major countries to never host the Olympics, so they do deserve it.

This is the entire point of seeking and finding the end of suffering.

Response:

One day just before the result, I have a very strong feeling that it would be Beijing, and no thoughts/image of any other country in my mind. But, when I try to use my logical thinking, I can’t figure out why. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi! Oppressive regimes always EVENTUALLY bow to the will of the people. The best way to swiftly and peacefully turn the tide (IMHO) in China is to expose its people to outside ideas as much as possible. Do not isolate but rather keep open dialogue and exchange of commerce and ideals. Does it support the oppression economically? Yes at first it does but gradually curtain falls as the people of China become more exposed to outside influence. The question I raise is, are we willing to change the culture and climate in order to see a people become free? I say yes. — Alan www.clearwaterjournal.com Listen to Refuge Radio at http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?autostart=oceandrop

*Olympics* is just like a mosaic masterpiece. ie, a design piece of art that is created by fitting pieces of stones together. These stones are uniquely different in colors, sizes, shapes, texture, material qualities, energy, time of formation…etc. Together, they are ONE masterpiece. So, why not *accept* each and every of these stones as they are? Afterall, that is what *is* Why making up *expectations* which are in conflict with what *is*? Where do i get the *right* to expect others to be the way i want them to be? Would you allow others to manipulate you into someone/something that you’re not? (only if you *allow*) One of the basic human rights is: "It is your right to be what you are without changing your idea or behavior to satisfy anyone else" The world needs more room for Warmth, Love, Interaction, Support,…. and all things Positive. Why not direct our *energy* in a positive direction in appreciating, understanding, supporting…..all the good qualities each and everyone/thing has ? Every thought, action, word, creates KARMA. A positive *cause* will lead to a positive *effect*. Therefore, there is no one to blame for anything, because karma is self-created. Everyone faces a different and unique life, whether or not you like it.,  because each one of us needs the experience as a karmic test for us to learn the experience. May love, peace, and perpetual bright light be with all, And so be it. Frances – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Oppressive regimes always EVENTUALLY bow to the will of the people. So what you are saying is that the billion or so people in China that suffer under its oppressive government are merely subject to their own bad Karma? Which is the Compassionate action? To direct our *energy* in a positive direction in appreciating, understanding, supporting…..all the good qualities each and everyone/thing has ?

Or perhaps through peaceful means to gently foster change that stops the slaughter and oppression of innocent beings? Therefore, there is no one to blame for anything, because karma is self-created

I just can’t swallow that. — Alan www.clearwaterjournal.com Listen to Refuge Radio at http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?autostart=oceandrop
