Kind regards, Lotus Light – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Dear Friend: I am a reporter for Radio Free Asia. As you may know, we broadcast news and social commentary into Tibet in three different dialects: U-ke, Kham-ke, and Amdo. We have been trying to get information about the situation you described in your letter, and are very concerned especially about what may be happening to Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok himself. Could you please write to Karme Dorje in our much. Sincerely, Richard Finney P.S. Seven years ago, I had the honor to see Khenpo Jig-phun and hear him teach. He is a wonderful lama.

your letter, and are very concerned especially about what may be happening to Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok himself. Does anyone have some good information about what is going on there? Could you please let us know? I have seen mentioned the crackdown on the monastic community (John Pomfret, Washington Post Foreign Service, Thursday, June 21, 2001; Page A22) and also the possible arrest of Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok himself (June 22, 2001, Monk Reported Arrested in Tibet, By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, Filed at 6:09 a.m. ET). He is very respected as a teacher, both in Tibet and outside. He had a vast number of students in Golok, among tibetans and chinese alike and seemed to be successful, until now, in preserving the teachings within the constraints of the chinese regime. Claude
