Part of the point (which Octinomos, our favourite alt.magick troll, bungled) is that most (American) Satanists don’t believe in what you refer to as "deific personifications of evil" either. "Satan" tends to mean something else entirely. And another part of the point is that Satan doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with Christianity. <sigh LaVey just HAD to go and pick a confusing and arousing name… ;

I wish I could be more help.
