DARK GODDESS???

Question:

: For those of you who are interested in this thread, and therefore : apparently interested in the topic, I recently picked up a slim volume on : the subject entitled _The Dark Goddess: Dancing With the Shadow_.  Not : half bad — combines historical views of various Dark Goddesses, combined : with discussion on using these Dark Goddesses to Work with one’s Shadow. : Recommended;  haven’t finished it yet (I’m in the middle of a couple other : books right now, so it might be a little while), so I can’t give it my : unequivocal recommendation, but it looks worthwhile so far. : _The Dark Goddess: Dancing With the Shadow_, by Marcia Starck and Gynne :    Stern.  Freedom, CA: The Crossing Press, 1993.  $10.95 new. This is one of those books that I’ve flipped through in the store and half-thought about buying. Some of the ritual work looked interesting, albeit a bit cutesy in places. OTOH, the "historical" information is laughable to say the least–they try to claim that Lilith has something to do historically with the Triple Goddess, for instance (a ludicrous claim even for those who think she was originally a goddess, despite no evidence to support that claim). I’m curious to read your opinion when you’ve had a chance to finish the book. Perhaps the useful parts outweigh the innacurate ones–as I said before, I haven’t read it all the way through, just flipped through and looked at certain sections (namely Lilith–big shock there *grin*). Merry Meet,   I have been exploring different Goddesses, and I came across the Dark Goddess known by most people as Kali, Hecate, Cerridwen, Lilith, Persephone, Fata, Morgana, Ereshkigal, Arianhrod, Durga, Inanna, Tiamat, and by other names that I do not know. N-E-WAYS I don’t know much about her, and I would hope that someone out there can help me. Well Merry Part and Bright Blessings to all who read this. Alicia

Posted A.R.W. If you have a web browser, then you should do a search there. I remember at least one site dedicated to the dark goddess.  Historical information is available everywhere.  What exactly do you want to know?  That would make it easier for people to answer your question. The dark goddess personifies the destructive forces in nature. She is a very powerful aspect of the goddess, the crone. It is she whom I call on during the dark moon. I am well aware of the Dark Goddess…the Goddess has 3 aspects, Maiden, Mother, & Crone, and the third is the Dark Goddess. But I am always interested in Pagan Web sites, does any one have the URL of the one Tom Hrouda was referring to? — Blessings, Denny

Un question: how would you answer the question "just what is the Dark Goddess?" Sure, why not she is my Favorite aspect. The Lady who chose me is known nore for her dark side then her light, but then all the Gods and Goddesses have a light and dark aspect (as do people), the biggest problem that people have with the "Dark" side is equating it with evil, which it has nothing to do with. The Dark side has many good aspects that people just do not realize, nor want to study. but that is my humble opion Aldric
