Atheists To Picket Promis Keepers at N.J. Rally

Question:

You must be a bunch of sorry losers.

Some are.  Most aren’t.  I am an atheist, but have no idea why "Promise Keepers" should be targeted any more than a local church or bible book store.  I disagree with them on religion, obviously!  But other than that I see nothing wrong with them or their message. William R. James

American Atheists doesn’t bother religious organizations that don’t bother them.  The problem with the Promise Keepers is that their public "front" doesn’t match the overtly theocratic goals of its leadership, which includes some prominent Reconstructionists.  People who are attracted to the saccharine themes of PK rallies (a red-flag in itself) have no idea of the cult-like nature of the organization, or the agendas of its member organizations- which in addition reading like a "who’s-who" of the Religious Right, also embraces the aforementioned fringe groups who advocate turning this country into another Afghanistan.  http://www.AmericanAtheist.org/spr97/T2/pk.html  http://www.AmericanAtheist.org/spr97/T2/pk2.html  http://www.AmericanAtheist.org/supplement/whypicket.html

They tend to wear suits too.  Does that mean any group who wears suits should be picketed?  :) This is ridiculous.  PK’s only "mission" (from what I have seen) is to encourage their members to practice the principles they already believe in , as it relates to taking care of their family.  The superstitious parts are silly but there is nothing dishonorable in that. William R. James

Response:

They hate all men period.

Like what?  Have you ever listened to any of their materials, or have you just hear what the left wing kooks are saying about them?  I know quite a few of them and have never heard them suggest anything that could even remotely be considered that way.  One of them is a "house husband".  His wife makes good money and has to travel extensively.
