i edited so cross posting would be eliminated. They are "sex symbols" due to the media’s "cult of personality" mindset ("whatever sells papers/magazines/commercials!"), coupled with the lack of critical thinking evident in so many people. Look at Pamela Anderson, as a famous example – spam-sucking trailer trash, inflated with plastic, caked with makeup, shallow as a puddle.
