At least that’s progress, though.  The problem with DF is he vacillates endlessly between hopeless despair and twisted, bitter idealism.  If he chose one and stuck with it, he’d be much better off.  In a few years he could maybe even get laid or kill himself and either way, I think that’d be an accomplishment.

How about Mace or Pepper spray, might be easier to carry and use. Also going for the balls is good, but also go for the eyes. NeoN

I walk around at night also. In the past year I’ve been attacked by two young men (I managed to fight them off but I have a large scar on my arm from the experience – it’s been a long time since I’ve worked out – I used to be a black belt) and I’ve had a gun pointed at me twice (one it was held to my head). I still go for walks but I avoid areas where there are few lights and little traffic. I used to live in NYC also. Luckily, I never had any problems there. I didn’t walk around at night much when I lived there though. It sucks to have to worry about anything. Do be careful with your knife. I wouldn’t carry an offensive weapon of any kind though a can of pepper spray seems like a good thing to have on hand. I could easily get a gun permit here. Thing is, I’d probably end up shooting myself while bummed out about one thing or another so guns are out. I don’t’ really like them all that much anyway. I studied street fighting techniques that included knife fighting for a while in the early 90’s. I still wouldn’t carry a knife. However, if you want a knife for protection there are much better choices than a swiss army knife. I have two of them and the blades aren’t that easy to access when you are in a hurry. Someone gave me a stiletto 20 years ago or so. I don’t know what happened to it. It would have been a useful weapon. Anyway.

rape is no laughing matter, but women have to be fuckin aware and look out for themselves..no matter how drunk n wasted u are, u DO NOT go home w/ a guy n not expect to have sex. that is just stupid and naive. bein drunk is no excuse for being just plain stupid. no matter how many times i got wasted and piss drunk i never got myself into a situation that i didn’t want to be in. some girls are just way too naive or just plain stupid, we live in a dangerous fucked up world, u gotta look out for urself.. i walk around late at nite by myself a lot, so i started carrying a swiss army knife, maybe a bit excessive, but i live in nyc, and i’m not takin any chances.

That’s all more reason not to drink too much, and remember not to just take random drinks from people. For example, once I gave my drink to a random frat guy. I could have pissed in that! The whole drug rape propoganda/scare campaign is so anti-male it makes me sick. 10 years ago, people would wake up in a hazed stupor from being piss drunk the night before, having slept with half the nightclub, and they’d go "shit, I had a bit much to drink". Now it’s "I must have been drug raped, I’ll call my lawyer". — "When, in the names of freedom and feminism, young women listen less to the hard-earned wisdom of older women about how to pick Mr. Right, they listen even more to their hormones. Won’t you ever give up, DF? Sure, all of this might be true (though I doubt the reliability of your "sources"), but why would you care? It won’t make your life any better to know that a small fraction of women abuse men like this. Some men abuse women too. Abuse is not the exclusive domain of women. Posting stuff like that will only make you more misogynist, and in the long term, you’ll grow more and more bitter and hopeless.

Ummm in the bar I frequent, there was a case of someone puting a drug into a guy and his girlfriends drink, they were both hospitilized, the guy was in for a few days since he had more of the drug in his system and was worse off.The guy that did it was even seen doing it.I do believe it happens, and not to just women, piss someone off in a bar and they can really fuck you by putting something in your drink. After that.I always finish my beer before I go to the bathroom and always carry it with me,you never know. I know a woman who was "date raped" after being "drugged" 7 times between May and Septmeber.  It seemed that every time she went out to a bar she was "drugged" and raped.  I went out with her, once, and she drank more than I did (and I am no slouch when it comes to alcohol).  She told me she was too tired and drunk to drive home (which she was).  I took her back to her place and she started to take down my pants.  I normally wouldn’t turn down sex from ANYONE, but I knew what was going on and I left.  The next day she asked if we had had sex.  I told her we didn’t and told her what happened. I don’t think she was purposely accusing men of raping her when she knew they didn’t (she never pressed charges with the police), I think she just didn’t know what was going on, couldn’t control her drinking and figured she couldn’t remember consenting so she must not have.
