Question:

: : Which kind of litter, the clumping kind, or the clay kind (or the : : newspaper lumpy things)? I kinda missed the start of this, but if this was a question about kitty litter brands, I’m busy trumpeting the advantages of my latest find – "Wheat’n'easy" or "Swheat Scoop" (same thing, two different lines). It’s clumping litter made from non-food-grade secondary wheat. No smell (well, a little with my four sharing a single box), flushable, compostable, biodegradable, you can even put it through a septic tank and it’s supposed to be good for them. There is a bit of dust, but it isn’t silica dust so my and the cat with asthma find it less irritating, and if kitty accidently ingests it, it gets digested instead of clogging their innards (as some anecdotal evidence has suggested clay clumping litters do). Disclaimer: I have no association with the company blah blah blah – just very happy with the product. ewww i know, but why cant they sit on the toilet?????
They can if you train them. Buy a kit at the kitty store. It’s easy and do they ever look funny straddling the toilet seat. Oh yeah, and as a bonus for all the women, when you do this the seat must always be left down. — bev . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://members.tripod.com/~Veb

: ewww i know, but why cant they sit on the toilet????? Well, if you have a cat small enough, and coordinated enough they make "toilet trainers" for cats. The boxes say that you need a cat less than 8 lbs — never in a million years could I get my two heavyweights on that thing. My old cat could have done it though, she was a light one at 6 lbs. These two would just end up in the toilet — and Shade Man is longhaired, so think of the extra mess *that* would make!! : Which kind of litter, the clumping kind, or the clay kind (or the : newspaper lumpy things)? : the clay kind!
We (well, my kittens anyway) use the clumping kind. Since I clean it daily anyway it kind of made sense. And they need a HUGE pan, too. My boy is bad at aiming (his mother was the same way) and he is really long bodied. Wouldn’t trade him for the world though.
He is such a sweetie. And at least he doesn’t chew on my elbows at 6 AM if he thinks it is time to get up (that is his sister’s job). dudelcat
