I’ve gone so far as to steer followups to alt.censorship only, that being seemingly the main focus of the Winston-related threads these days. it shows, at least, that he’s "interested" in, to say the least, controversial issues.  The list of articles on his server supports but one side of one issue: holocaust revisionism.  This is not ’support of free speech’, this is support of holocaust revisionism. Take an example: a forum in which there would be articles pro and against (say) nazism, homophobia, antifeminism, etc…  While one could agree or disagree with the appropriateness of some of the articles, such a forum could be said to allow for freedom of speech, and would be quite different from a forum dedicated _solely_ to nazism, homophobia, anti-feminism, etc…, would it not?  b-cpu is dedicated to holocaust revisionism, not to freedom of speech, as is its supplying agency, the IHR. Not only do they have their own machine, but they flood other forums (in this case: USENET groups) with articles totally inappropriate for some of those forums, as determined both by the groups’ charters and the acceptance of the public to those articles.  There _are_ groups in which they could continue posting their stuff (such as alt.revisionism), but they insist on disrupting other groups, now it is even sci.research. Is this ‘real freedom of speech?’  Freedom in society is not anarchy. But if I die or something, you’ll know why.

Yet another conspiracy?  "I have heard" that Ralph Winston is paid by the IHR.  There. on the topic, I haven’t seen him post anything AT ALL which I would consider anti-Semitic, racist, or anything like that!  Just controversial.  

Have you ever seen an anti-semite (or a racist, etc…) acknowledging that dubious title?  Those who can best detect such attacks are its targets. Ask the black people.

     I’ve been trying to join in the discussion on PDX.GENERAL about myself and Banished CPU, to counter some accusations I’ve heard vaguely about and to clarify my position and situation as the SysOp of b-cpu, but I don’t receive that newsgroup here.  (Nor do I receive ALT.REVISIONISM, but would like to.)      Yesterday I called Techbooks and got an account (maynard; Maynard Erikson), just to read PDX.GENERAL.  Although they have still been claiming, even after their previous censorship stunts, to be a "public access" system which offers acccess to everyone, free of charge (although not full access unless you give them money!), when I called back today to continue reading PDX.GENERAL, I found that my access had been taken away.  Now I can’t even *read* PDX.GENERAL (which is all that I wanted to do), and I only have 5 minutes online per day.  I can’t even leave e-mail to the SysOp (or should I say Censorslob?) there!      Ho-hum, nothing new, but I thought you all might want to know about this latest revolting stunt.      For your information, I’m not a neo-Nazi or an anti-Semite.  I support *REAL* Freedom of Speech on my BBS.  I’d love to correspond with you all, but it seems I cannot get access to PDX.GENERAL messages, so it will have to be (for now) in e-mail, or on my BBS (feel free to give it a call!  The numbers are listed in the .sig at the end of this post.)      Someone recently forged an e-mail to Rutgers and put b-cpu in the maps.  Apparently they think they will scare me into shutting my system down and stop providing an open forum by putting what they think is my real name, address, phone number, etc. in the maps so that everyone can see it.  No such luck; I don’t back down from what I believe in.  I believe in Freedom of Speech!  Anyway, they actually did me a favor, because now you should be able to send e-mail to accounts (including mine) at b-cpu without having to do it specifically through agora (which most people just couldn’t seem to figure out how to do.) Yeah, right. Anyone can denounce racism, so also a racist can (and of course probably will.) And not only does GOD KNOW what the net gets to see, but so do you. And you know it very well. And every time someone gets a little excited about Ralph, Pete & Geroge, you come up with some drivel about being threatened or the victim of forgeries, or being destryed by the Zionist Thought Police or whatever. I’d say, quit whining, *you* let the shit be post, and if you stand for freedom of speech that’s fine with me, but please don’t keep complaining about not being given it. [...] Contrary to several articles posted to the net; my understanding is that it is not illegal for UUNET to deny you service (unless it is on the basis of race, religion, sex, etc). Unlike your local phone company, UUNET is not a government-regulated common carrier. Personally, I think they have a moral obligation to refrain from viewpoint discrimation, but as far as I know, they don’t have a legal obligation. – Carl —
