let pedophile priests make their own living

Question:

Yesterday the bishops decided to relieve all pedophile priests of their ministerial duties to the Catholic people, but not to defrock them. Gees, all-expense-paid early retirement! Is that not a REWARD for sexual child abuse? Why should the Catholic people have to continue to pay for the room, board, medical care, spending allowances, etc. for this dead wood? The Church has callously disregarded the financial straights it puts its victims and trashed lay employees in. But when it comes to letting clergymen get what they deserve, we immediately hear from the other side of its mouth.

‘financial straits’? Excuse me, I thought this was a religion, not some big-business corporation. As I understand it, the church authorities are dealing with their deviant minority separately from the way that the secular authorities are dealing with it… fair enough.  And would someone please explain to me why bishops are ’superior’? Rising through the ranks does *not give you some divine right to pronounce on ethics. It merely allocates social status. Jani
