How has September 11 affected you?
Question:
here here, it is easy to protest war when you are halfway across the world from anywhere that has been affected (New York, Afghanistan). I do not agree with military action and I hated to see it happen, but we have lost thousands of innocent people. The troubling thought is that these maniacs didn’t care who they killed, it could have been me, the only person I ever offended was my next door neighbour for throwing parties every night when I was 16. Anyone, no matter who could have been caught up in this (even my 2 and 5 year old daughters). These bastard terrorists have to be stopped and I don’t care by which means, push them out of the top floor window of a 100 story building whilst on fire for all I care. march on that you stupid wankers (don’t forget to cash your dole cheque first). I guess I have now offended a couple more people, please don’t march down my street.

But since we are on the topic and there are those of you that are against the war let’s emphasize…..NOBODY really wants to go to war. And as much the Muslims have been maligned throughout history, does it give them the right to plow airplanes into buildings and kill over 6,000 people?? I am from New York City…when I drove into work that day, it was just like any typical day until I heard it on the news. I knew people that were lost in this tragedy. They certainly didn’t deserve to die. Would it have to take a plane to plow into your country’s prominent landmark for your government to take action and for you to be concerned that we are ALL in trouble by this? TONY SANTIAGO
Response:
It seems no one understands tactics. The bombings are directed at communications, military, and terrorist targets. The point of the bombings is to disrupt communications and to hamper the ability of the Taliban to track the US, so that the United States may land ground troops to hunt down Bin Laden. Unfortunately, as with every war, mistakes are made, and civillians die. And as for the terrorists being "terrorists" and not muslims? I DO realize that the muslim faith is a peaceful one, and I do realize that these terrorists are not acting on behalf of the muslim faith, but remember when the united states first came up with the notion of retalitory attacks against Afghanistan? Remember what the Taliban response was? Basically, they said "If the united states attacks us, they will be starting a holy war" How the hell is this a holy war? someone attacks the US, they retaliate. it is THEM who started all this religion crap. 2 more of my cents. And as much the Muslims have been maligned throughout history, does it give them the right to plow airplanes into buildings and kill over 6,000 people?? Them? Are you trying to suggest it’s because they were muslims that the terrorists did this? Face it! This was done by *TERRORISTS* who just happen to be muslims. It has very little to do with the muslim faith itself. It has more to do with hatred than religion. It’s easy to misinterpret most religious texts (either deliberately or not) if a person wants to find things there to justify their own hatred. It’s up to the honest believer to de-bunk them. Unfortunately, this isn’t really happening. Is this the fault of the Muslim faith or the news media just not reporting it? I think the latter. Yes, we are in trouble. Yes, something needs to be done but bombing the fuck out of innocent people isn’t going to sort it out. In fact, all that’s going to do is give the extremists more ammunition to promote hatred and turn what people who probably didn’t give a shit about America a real reason to hate them. From what news I’ve heard most Afgans had never even heard of the twin towers before that event. What right has the American government got to fuck up their lives? What really scares me is the gun-ho attitude many Americans have. This is not a cowboy movie. You can’t shoot your way out of trouble in real life. All I see it doing is causing more problems around the Arab states. I can’t help thinking they are being led by the nose into one big fuck-off trap which will bring half the Arabs states into a war against America. Killing innocents to kill a murderer is murder itself IMO. Funny how many Amercians can’t accept the killing of American citizen but can of innocent foreigners. If you get a hostage situation in America, you don’t see the SWAT teams blazing in killing the hostages to get at the bad guys. Why is the situation different in this case? As to whether the events of sep 11 have changed my clubbing lifestyle. Nothing has changed. I refuse to let the terrorists change the way I lead my life. We’ve had the IRA bombing London for years. We’ve come to realise that what a terrorist wants is fear. Well fuck them. However, if there’s a decent dance event that promotes a better way to sort out the problems, then I’ll probably go. Can’t say that I’ll bother if the music isn’t my thing tho’. Statistics also show that it’s still incredibly unlikely to get involved in a terrorist act, even in New York. So, we should be concerned but not worried. We certainly shouldn’t panic into doing something stupid, which is what I think America is doing right now. | Dale Walker London Techno Events Saiko! | | London, UK london.sorted.org saiko.sorted.org |

Sorry to correct you again Deejay – I’m actually with most of what you say, and I do agree that there is no proper evidence made public that connects the WTC strike to Al-Qaeda. In fact, even Nick Cohen in the Observer yesterday alluded to an FBI/CIA leak that shows that there’s very little evidence! It is quite possible that Mossad is involved, and it’s equally possible that CIA is involved – it would not be the first time that American people have died at their hands, while external forces get blamed. There are serious oil interests around Afghanistan and huge strategic interests too. But the story of Jews selling shares, or not turning up to work that day, are infact urban myths that have gone round the internet and they don’t hold up any more than the idea that the pilot’s passport was found in the wreckage (yeah, right) or that these highly organised fanatics made the mistake of leaving the airplane training manual and a Koran on the back seat of their car – (what’s this, a fucking Agatha Christie novel?). A note to dj-obiwan: I meant no offence to you! My point was that if facts aren’t correct, it gives ammunition to the assholes who think that this war is a good idea – your corrections seemed to be well meant and I was not referring to you as an asshole. Peace Rikki – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I hate the way everyone is "presuming" that a Muslim "terrorist" did this. Remember Oklahoma people? That was the arabs too, remember? Exactly. Bit strange how the Dow was about to collapse that same day, and why? Because prior knowledge? Like they claimed that Bin Laden was cashing in by buying certain shares? —
Response:
Also, the united states gives Afghanistan $150,000,000/year in "humanitarian aid" which I almost guarantee is (partially or wholly) intercepted by the Taliban, and was/is used in an anti-american agenda. Sick shit.
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Yes, it has oil, coal, semi-precious and precious stones, petrolium etc etc etc. And yes, the American’s put the taliban into power, they funded them (the powers that be before the Taliban which then became the Taliban) and continued to fund them throughout the 90’s. —

In my limited knowledge of world politics and issues, I have noticed one common factor in soooo many major conflicts, and that, my friends, is our great friend RELIGION. Honestly. So it may bring peace and happiness to billions of people worldwide, but is it really worth killing eachother for? I think it’s time the rest of society followed in my lead, and smoked themselves into a semi-conscious state on a daily basis. Far less death. Far less hate. Far more nachos. I mean really… come on people… If bin laden (or whatever miscellaneous anti-us terrorist leader) had hit the bong 5-10 times a day for the last five years, he wouldn’t have had the energy/ambition to order a fuckin pizza, let alone organize the beginning of the end of history. my 2p B

Hopefully to clear things up – I think I’m right in saying that the Caspian Sea is the huge oil reserve and pipelines across Afghanistan would bring billions of dollars of revenue to the US. Dick Cheney is a big player in the main company that would gain from this by the way! As far as US support for factions in Afghanistan, the fact is that the CIA helped to train and fund none other than Osama Bin Laden, and suggested that their fight against the Soviets was a jihad against infidels. It was very successful and managed to drive the Russians out. One other interesting fact – the US gave the Taliban $43,000,000 in May of THIS year supposedly as part of their war against drugs. Historically, there is a lot of evidence to demonstrate that the CIA are up to their eyeballs in drug smuggling. hope that helps – the gist of what DeeJay was saying was correct, but it’s important to be accurate with the facts so the assholes can’t get picky! What’s important in the end is that two bombs don’t make a right, and eye for an eye and the whole world will be blind, and you are either with peace or you are with the terrorists. ps I’ve just got back from a mass civil disobedience sit down in Whitehall today. We stopped the traffic for an hour and a half, and the march attracted 500 people despite torrential rain and cold winds. Watch out for the huge public rally in London on the 18th November – the last one attracted 50,000 – let’s make the next one a quarter of a million like the Italians managed last weekend. Peace Rikki www.aquasonicrecords.com – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I knew about the Americans ties with the mujahedeen but I wasn’t aware of any ties with the taliban as mentioned above. It might be important for running pipelines through like you said but as far as what the guy above says – I’ll believe it when I hear anything else saying the same thing…unless of course he has got a link to back up what he’s saying ? Nick Its not true. I believe the oil is in Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan is needed to run a pipeline to a seaport. Or the pipeline could go to China. Americans did not put the Taliban in place. Americans had covert ties to the Mujahideen in the Soviet war.
