He said one of the three resistance activists was instantly killed inside the vehicle. "I saw martyr Akel running from the car but the Israeli helicopters chased him with missiles until they killed him," Hashash said. He added that the third Palestinian, who sustained moderate injuries, managed to flee and the Israelis failed to hunt him down. The two deaths bring the total killed since the start of the Palestinian Intifada in September 2000 to 3,439, including 2,578 Palestinians and 800 Israelis, according to an AFP count. The new assassination is the fifth against Hamas activists in the past week.
