The damage a person does to the planet has little to do with what sort of clothes he or she wears. Mostly it’s a function of how much he or she consumes in general. We might think of overpopulated Third-World countries as cesspools of squalor and ecological catastrophe—and they are—but the fact remains that the average baby born in the United States will consume as many resources and generate as much pollution over his/her lifetime as 30 average babies born in India. Really, the worst things a person can do for the planet are: 1. Be comfortable 2. Reproduce It’s fashionable for pseudo-environmentalists to focus on token issues such as the fur trade or genetically modified foods as a way to avoid having to confront the real issues and make any real sacrifices. A real environmentalist would, at a minimum, stop driving cars, and use only enough artificial heat in the winter to keep the water pipes from freezing. The shipping cost is clearly stated as a flat rate, along with an offer of $1 for each additional item. Assuming a handling fee and some good packaging, and considering the seller’s outstanding feedback, I’d say you’re overstating your case. He looks like a good seller to me, with a modest S&H charge. Perhaps he could include the word "handling" in his listing to be entirely square, but I don’t see a problem, certainly not "theft."

First, you have nothing to feel guilty over.  As for regrets…well, I can’t tell you how often I’ve cursed this rotten "disorder".  That phrase sounds way too mild, to tell you the truth.  "Disorder", sounds like something that is a mild inconvenience instead of something that can destroy lives.  Right now, however, is not the time to kick yourself.  I don’t know if you have any legal options.  But I doubt that you did the wrong thing telling your boss what was wrong with you.  I’m betting that he would have hired a permanent replacement if he hadn’t known exactly what was wrong.  Management hates uncertainty, and doesn’t like having positions filled temporarily. You did what you had to do.  You’re in survivial mode right now, fighting to get healthy.  That is your only really important priority.  Seriously.  Jobs come and go, but your life, your physical and mental health, your family, all depend on you getting better.  Most bipolar people are able to work at productive jobs. Sometimes compromises have to be made, though.  Hang in there.  You are getting better.  You will have a "normal" life (whatever that means – look around – there are a lot of different types of "normal"). You can deal with this. And keep in mind that there are two types of emotional disturbance for bp’ers.  There is the mood-disorder induced stuff, and there are "real" emotions resulting from outside stimuli. Don’t assume that the real disappointment/anger you are feeling will set you back emotionally.  It all really depends on how you respond to it.  You can give up and decide that you are a failure, or you can decide that you are going to fight to regain your equilibrium and show that idiot that you can go back to work and be as good an employee as you were before.  If you can quit smoking and stay quit in the middle of all this, I’m betting that you have what it takes to do the latter. I read something in a bipolar journal shortly after I was diagnosed.  They were talking about activism, and they commented that the most important thing a bp’er who wanted to set a good example could do was to get and stay as stable as possible, to set an example.  I’ve always remembered that.  You can show your boss that you are as good as before.  But first you have to get stable. This claim is very certainly false, because there were recounts of all the ballots, done by the New York Times and a cast of many, who took advantage of the ballots being public documents. The count you were asking for of the ballots was made, with an open audit, and it did not give the result you are claiming it would. (2) Your statement of "certainly" is a lie, as the media-led post-election recounts showed. Never forget: Gore WON THE POPULAR VOTE decisively. Bush LOST THE POPULAR VOTE by at least a million ballots.

You liberals always have to come back to irrelevancies when you don’t have an real argument.  Amend the Constitution to abolish the Electoral College first, and then you can start wanking about your poor candidate winning the popular vote. —

Had they recused themselves because of this conflict, as they should properly have done, the Supreme Court vote would have been four to three to allow a complete audit of ALL the disputed Florida ballots, which would almost certainly have given us a verified Gore presidency. Come back and talk to us about Justice Marshall’s "judicial integrity and impartiality" when you’ve dealt with the reprehensible behavior of Scalia and Thomas on this far more important issue.

Read the Constitution: the President is elected by the Electoral College, NOT the popular vote. Why does this constantly need to be pointed out? There’s no proof Gore would have won if the Supremes had decided otherwise. In fact, I recall that an independent media group did an audit and Bush still won. There’s also the matter of the Democrats trying to keep military absentee ballots from being counted – not so pretty either. Let’s face it: both side stunk and stink. No system is perfect, but we do the best we can. I don’t much like Bush and won’t vote for him, but I really think it’s time that Democratic die-hards quit whining about 2000 and concentrate on 2004. Bush is a legimate president, period. Forget it. Grow up and move on and vote the bastard out now, when it counts. m
