Auto Insurance?
Question:
I got a quote from this Insurance company called 20th Century that was $500.00 less for the same coverage. Has/does anyone in net land know anything about this company? had any experiences with them?
I switched to 20th Century from AAA years ago. Much cheaper and pretty reasonable service. I’ve had a couple of claims and they’ve gone well. Jon —

I’ve been with the 20th Century for over 10 years with 2 claims. By far, they are the cheapest, and provides good service. I’ve made 2 claims, both the other party’s fault, and they provided prompt payment and dealted with the body shop in a professional manner. My only complaint is that they do not provide a rental car. I suppose this is a small penalty you pay for lower premium. By the way, 20th Century only insures "low risk" drivers with good record and "low risk" cars (at least used to).

: My wife and I have spotless driving records (now) : and still AAA is charging $1500.00 Per year for : Full coverage on my wife new Z28. I live in Santa Monica, CA, and under 20th Century pay $2200 per year with a $1000 deductable for a ‘95 Trans Am. And that was the cheapest I could find. I’m 37 years old with a spotless driving record. Most of the money is in comp/collision.
Well, all I can do is add my $.02 in here, but I live in a northern suburb of Dallas, TX, am 29 years old, male, single, no tickets and a not-at-fault accident in 1992. When it was my only vehicle (up until about 8 months ago), I was paying $984 per year for full coverage on my 1991 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo! My insurance is thru State Farm, and I have been with them for about 11 years. This does, however, include passive restraint, ABS, theft deterrant and defensive driving discounts (make sure you get these if they are applicable!). I had originally paid about $1500/yr prior to tweaking my deductables (the $984 was based on 500/250) and the other discounts; at that time, I thought $1500 was a bit much, so I called around.. for about 10 minutes. I got the same answer from Allstate, Farmers and Geico: "We don’t insure *ANYONE* in that car". I stuck with State Farm… P.S. I now have the Z as my "pleasure vehicle" and a 1988 Chevy Silverado as my "beater"; full coverage for both with 1000/1000 deductable is about $1500 per year — fax 214 519-4026 | This message is not representative | of DSC Communications Corporation "I didn’t buy this team to make money.." – Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones

[snip] We have been with 20th Century for probably 9 years now. Every other year or so, I shop around to see if I can get anything for less money, but so far no luck. We pay about $1200 for 3 cars (a 90 Astro Van, a 92 Lumina, and a 72 Camaro). We had one claim a few years ago when my wife was hit in an intersection, and had no problems at all. Hope that helps some. Page
