If I were suffering from an incurable and progressively worsening conditon, it is my right to be given the opportunity to end my life. Dr. Kervorkian would allow me to do so with dignity and ease . Anyone who would oppose his helping me, on any "moral" or "biblical" ground, in my opinion, is sticking his or her nose where it doesn’t belong. If they are not in my shoes, in my bed, in my circumstances, they have no right — repeat, NO RIGHT — to comment on any decision I make, so long as it is rationally and carefully determined. Dr. Kervorkian may be a bit flakey at times, but in his heart he has taken the moral high road. Unfortunately we live in a culture where a loud and obnoxious band of morality makers have the clout and verve to impose their notions of life and death on others. Death is "bad," life is "good," — that is their logic. Well, life IS good when you can get up every morning and brush your own teeth and hang out with loved ones and go to movies and eat at restaurants.
